A Life of Their Own
Originally published in 2019, I was thrilled that A Life of Their Own was reissued as a second edition with a brand new cover pack shot in September 2022.
A story of love, hope and resilience.
Kate’s story is empowering and one I have wanted to write for many years. Differing greatly from my previous books, it tackles the serious subject of domestic abuse.
Delving into the emotional pain and trauma that sufferers go through was, to say the least, difficult. However, my aim with A Life of Their Own was to ensure it was not a traumatic read, instead, it focuses on Kate’s future. Flashbacks allow the reader to feel the emotional and physical pain that Kate endured and understand her reluctance to trust, move on and love again.
When Kate and her children step onto a bus early one morning, she knows this is their only chance. Their only chance at freedom and at a life of their own. But, can she ensure their safety? Can she ensure they will never be found?
This feeling haunts Kate as she and her children begin a new life far from New York, far from their troubled past.
But, little did she know that their new life would bring her closer to a different past, a life she had long given up, making her already fragile world more complicated than she could have ever imagined.
